Over the last couple of months, as Autumn set in,  Leon took the time up at the cabin to continue work on his ongoing landscape series, "Boxhill".

The V&A Shoot

Leon was asked to get involved in a new project by Michael Johnson of Johnson Banks who was designing new maps for the V&A.

Leon and the team from Johnson Banks.

It involved a set of 10 maps of the museum, each showing a different route (around the museum), based on the favorite items of various Designers, Authors and Media figures.

It was timed to coincide with the London Design Festival to help illustrate how influential the V&A is to so many of our creatives.

The Iphone shoot

Meanwhile back in London, Leon is shooting the second stage of the Landrover/Iphone apps campaign.

The campaign for RKCR Y&R London is to promote being able to get live rugby scores from your Iphone.

 The first stage involved the team (lead by Model Maker Wesley West) building a 26ft rugby pitch to superimpose onto the face of the the new Ipod.

Oh yes, the real thing.

The AOP Awards & The Campaign Awards: 2010

Leon shot the COI Organ Donation campaign for the NHS last year which was ran alongside the television commercials.

In this case Bill Turpin, our Prosthetics make-up expert, made up the model to appear as a patient in need of a new liver.

The campaign was selected for  The AOP Awards this year.

From Boxhill to The Royal Academy Piccadilly

 As this is a new blog, I'll bring you up to speed:

Since acquiring a cabin in the woods in Surrey, Leon has split his time working on commercial projects in London and personal work around the Boxhill area.


This has involved scrambling through the surrounding woods and heathland with his 5x4 field camera.

Leon returned to this spot each season.

 "It's worth the effort" he says, as film and large format cameras, being technically more difficult to expose and compose, slows the process down and creates a more visceral experience.

Also, with the view to exhibiting the images as large scale prints, the overall quality of the finished work is enhanced when originally shot on film.

The result thus far has been a landscape series called "Boxhill", part of an ongoing project.



One of the images from the series has been selected from 11'000 entries for The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2010.
